We already knew she was a crazy idiot, there’s no logical explanation for anything that takes around in her drug-scorched brain.

Yeah, it looks like she thinks she’s so famous that of course they’ll know who she is. The fake accent, the “not the husband just you and the kids”, “this is dirty, leave it” all of it combined with the super obvious fact that’s she’s stoned out of her gourd make me think she thought she was doing a good thing… Like, she had good intentions… But you know what they say about the road to hell. She was stoned, and oblivious, and egotistical, arrogant, and of course white woman knows best… I know literally nothing else about her personal life other than this video and that she lives in Dubai now (both of which I learned from this thread). I’m withholding judgement for what a sober Lindsay is like, but this speaks to some sad shit.

The “not your husband” comment just screams human trafficking to me. I know that’s probably not what she was going for but if I ever heard that I’d be shoving and running the fuck away too.

I mean, can also sort of get it the other way around, too. Like, she doesn’t want a strange man she doesn’t know back at the hotel with her. But also, 1, it’s fucked to separate a family, it’s screams of trying to get them into a vulnerable position, and also, she’s clearly not trying to, like, house these people. Just give them a room for tonight, best case scenario. I do not blame Mama for knocking her down one teeny tiny bit, even if she knows she’s a celebrity and probably not a human trafficking nutjob.

That’s what I kind of thought but I couldn’t find anything that supported that and she was clearly not in the right state of mind so I was like “well maybe that had nothing to do with it”

There are at least a couple of what if questions

    1. What if this had been a black, Asian, Mexican or a not quite privileged person, would there be as much understanding about mental health?
    2. What if she did this in the US? Would the “Syrian family” he separated and deported by ICE

First I’ve heard about the attempted kidnapping. But then again, usually when I see “Lindsay Lohan” it the headline, I skip the article.

I hope she stays in Dubai.

Edit: I blame Paris Hilton for ruining her.

I was ignorant about what kind of person Hilton has become.

I definitely hated Hilton in the 00s but she’s been a standup and model citizen compared to Lohan. Lohan has a family history of drug abuse and turned into a train wreck on her own. Hilton by all accounts is a decent person with nearly every controversy she’s in coming down to she’s from rich white money so cameras followed her everywhere. Supposedly she’s a huge amateur radio enthusiast.

Paris was ignored by wealthy parents and sent to one of those abusive youth camps. That’s the root.

Too many coincidences. She does the reality show with Nicole Ritchie which is fine. Nicole has problems with eating disorder, Paris gets more tabloid attention. Paris becomes friends with Lindsey Lohan (big star at the time), Lindsey goes off the deep end. And then the same thing happens with Britney Spears and that producer dude that Paris dates (I think he was twice her age and left his wife because of her). He produces an excellent album for her actually. It’s hard not to see a pattern. And even with regular drug abuse people usually don’t fall apart as badly and as publicly as those three did.

Paris Hilton isn’t exactly a genius, but she’s miles smarter than most of her “collegues” from that era.

Hilton was also kidnapped and shipped off to several “scared straight” torture camps by her family as a teenager..

She had some horrible shit done to her, and apprently vowed to make her own money separate from her family. The vapid, “that’s hot” party girl persona was her succeeding.

Shes come out hard against what happened to her and tries to help current victims. She managed to get legislation passed to help them, but also takes a more direct approach.

Yeah, after reading about her being very public and adamantly against the troubled teen torture camps, I had to really confront the assumptions I’d made about her in the past. She’s a very privileged person who’s doing an important thing for some of the most vulnerable people in society. I have a ton of respect for her!

I’m glad the conversation happened, I typically tune out any celebrity news and this turned out to be a good discussion to read and learn more about. I can’t say I’ve ever held an opinion about any of these celebrity folks beyond being entitled trash but I agree with the conclusion you presented that I’m replying to.

It almost seems like that if you take any problem in a country and make a business opportunity out of it, that that is a really bad idea…
