minus-squareRikudou_Sagelinkfedilink12•2 years agoIf you used NixOS, you could move your whole OS there!
minus-squareRikudou_Sagelinkfedilink8•2 years agoThe whole OS is configured by a single file (or subfiles you include from the main file) - every package and setting can be there. Meaning you just move the file to a new OS, run a single command, and you have the exactly same OS.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish6•2 years agoSeriously thinking about nuking my years old Gentoo installation to try Nixos at this point.

minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish2•2 years agoTrue. I’ll migrate my /home back to my root drive and use the spare drive to experiment with.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish1•2 years ago I’ll migrate my /home back to my root drive and use the spare drive to experiment with. Or just leave it where it is and mount it there too ¯\(ツ)/¯
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish1•2 years agoWell my home is on my spare drive currently lol. I guess I could just create another btrfs subvol alongside @home and use that as root.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish2•2 years agoBut where’s the fun in that? Then you don’t get new hardware.
minus-square@[email protected]linkfedilinkEnglish1•2 years agoI’d normally agree with you lol, but I got laid off recently so I have to make due with what I have for now. The obvious answer that escaped me for whatever reason was just to create a VirtualBox VM. I already have it installed so why not.
