I think they might be confusing “the satanic temple”. They are more a progressive supporter of the first amendment as opposed to an organized religion. The church of Satan is the religious organization.
They’re activists using Satan as a cover to do activist work pushing back on religious people and government from trampling their rights in the name of gods they don’t believe in. More of a US thing really. I wish they were more active in Canada, I’d join in on the fun.
Religious freedom is the mirror they hold up to those forcing biblical law on the rest of us.
They don’t actually worship Satan and I’m sure it’s majority atheist or atheistic religious members like some Buddhists.
Edit: a recent example is opening abortion clinics with clinic names that are insulting to specific anti choice politicians. They do a 'lil trolling.
I proudly donate to Planned Parenthood, The Satanic Church, and NPR on a monthly basis.
