Bacteria are set to transform the future of dairy-free milk products. Scientists have successfully engineered E. coli to produce key milk proteins essential for cheese and yogurt production, without using any animal-derived ingredients. This paves the way for plant-based dairy alternatives that mimic traditional dairy at a molecular level but are sustainable and cruelty-free.

What do you have against E. coli?
They safely live in your intestine (though pathogenic strains exist) and are very easy to geneticly engineer.
The several instances a bioengineered strain evolves into something far more dangerous that causes more than just pandemics.
If the engineering here is to produce caseins, what acids will this GMO source its nutrients other than the intestinal wall?
It’s not vegan by definition, or should have Sanjukta Mondal baitlined as such. If anything, I want more cashew cheese, b complexes complete🥁.
Another safer non jumping plant please, maybe a fungal symbiosis.
