You can view their disappearance a few ways, experts said — as a flex of executive power, an escalation in the culture war over climate change, or a strategic attempt to erase the scientific foundation for climate policy.
“If you suppress information and data, then you don’t have the evidence you need to be able to create regulations, strengthen regulations and even to combat the repeal of regulations,” Gehrke said.
This isn’t climate denial in the traditional sense. The days of loudly debating the science have mostly given way to a campaign to withhold the raw information itself. “I don’t know if we’re living in climate denial anymore,” said Leah Aronowsky, a science historian at Columbia Climate School. “We have this new front of denial by erasure.”
It is no longer climate change denialism, now it is just scientific denialism.
The really fucked up part is the fossil fuel industry knew this would happen 70+ years ago as fact. So now the conservatives deny the conclusions of those they support. Must be hard twisting your mind into a pretzel.
Also isn’t one of the cults behind the GOP sees global warming as “a good thing actually”, because they think it’s needed to “unseal the apocalypse, and the second coming of Christ” or something like that?
I am sure there are. They are the Evangelicals who are trying to bring about the apocalypse because Jesus.
You allude to something that turns out to be even worse. Reality is often worse than you typically imagine.
At any rate, yes there are a bunch of people excited to capitalize on climate change. Buy up land, move production, etc. It turns out you can make a lot of money off of human suffering!
