This lead to them removing an imperial ton of these games, which in turn made a lot of horny gamers very angry (hangry? horngry? lol) Long story short: very controversial

Why are there so many mastercard ads on lemmy lately?

Mastercard (as only one) does not want vendors like Steam and Itch to sell explicit 18+ content. This lead to them removing an imperial ton of these games, which in turn made a lot of horny gamers very angry (hangry? horngry? lol)
