The fundraiser looks super sketchy and we don’t even know who is running it, so a lot of people probably don’t trust it.

Well, they’re not making it easy to find and it’s being funded by angry poor people. There’s probably not a lot of wealthy big donors on this one.

I mean, it’s also kind of pointless.

Regardless of whether or not you support him, it’s pretty clear he did it and doesn’t have much of a chance of getting away with it.

A good legal defense will prevent them from just throwing the book at him for trumped up charges and/or sentencing guidelines. Cops commit more heinous crimes than this and get a slap on the wrist at best, and regular rich white people get cushy, minimal sentences. Without public outcry and legal defense to intervene, they probably would have tried to get him on outright terrorism charges to throw him away for life without parole. (There’s a bunch of white nationalists and Nazis that need to catch that sentence, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for Luigi)

I’d donate but don’t want to support GiveSendGo and also don’t trust that the money will actually end up anywhere good.

He already hired an expensive lawyer on his own, and that lawyer hasn’t said anything about using the Mooney from this fund. It’s most likely a scam.

The fucking dumbass media will stay surprised by how people feel about this, and the working class people among them will feign shock for the cameras. But the reality is that CEOs have been screwing everyone else in the country raw dog for fucking decades, and nobody that works for a living and has lived in this country for a while is truly shocked by the support for Luigi.

I mean hell, to end last season of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Dennis had a daydream where he ripped a CEO’s heart out to reduce his blood pressure.

Do you think the mainstream media is truly surprised at people’s reactions or is it simply acting surprised to behave in line with a dog and pony show about how the UHC CEO was the real working class hero and The Adjuster was evil and/or a lunatic that we should all despise?

I think it’s a mixture. I’ve quit watching news coverage on TV completely at this point, but I do still watch some more mainstream comedy shows (e.g. SNL, Colbert, After Midnight, etc). SNL’s latest episode illustrated this disconnect, especially with the opening sketch (a Nancy Grace impersonation basically saying “what’s wrong with people for liking the killer?”) and Chris Rock’s opening monologue. Rock started by talking seemingly sincerely about the CEO and how it must be terrible for his family, etc. and then said “Sometimes drug dealers get shot” or something similar.

There’s also a comedy narrative that is being established that I think is kind of mainstream media types coping with the reaction to the killing, which is that they’re saying “he’s only supported because he’s handsome”…but I really think they are out of the loop and many are truly surprised and/or still don’t understand the public’s reaction.

His lawyer apparently is saying that he won’t be accepting outside money, so probably all donations are scams.

          This one says:

All proceeds will be sent directly to Luigi or, if he chooses to reject the funds, they will instead be donated to legal funds for other U.S political prisoners and defendants facing politicized charges.

So if Luigi will reject it, then who are the political prisoners that will get it?

I edited the comment for awareness.

I think even if the funds aren’t going to him, there is still at least some value in keeping the conversation going and the political memes flowing. Like it or not, this whole thing has become a hell of a lot bigger than our hero Luigi, and for damn good reason. It’s healthy for this country to keep the momentum goin here.

He comes from a rich family. And even if they refuse to pay for his defense, let the privileged brat experience a public defender for once. Jeez.

he’s a poser, not a class traitor. if he had been a true class traitor, he would have played things smart. he would have united himself in living with the lower classes without forgoing his significant resources, and he would have dedicated his family inheritance and privilege to righting wrongs.

no he hasn’t, this will do nothing. literally, nothing. his action was fruitless. it wasted his potential to acutally help the lower classes. it was a mentally ill bid for attention and you all know it.

And yet here we are, talking about him and uniting as a single working class under a common struggle.

Just because he didn’t perform the most effective/efficient way of betraying his class (which, could be argued; see above), does not mean he didn’t betray his class.

He killed “one of his own”. He is a class traitor and hero in my eyes, even if he is not a perfect revolutionary figure.

I guess I can see your perspective. There are just so many posers and rich-kid revolutionary wannabes, and they all trickle down into the masses pretending to be class traitors when in reality they’re just wearing us like a letterman jacket. its all unserious to them. They get arrested at just stop oil protests, they go out and riot or join ANTIFA or shoot some CEO… but they’re just spoiled rich kids who don’t understand us.

      Steps:

      1. Chain every health insurance CEO together in a big long line.

      2. Attach chain to a giant multi-ton boulder.

      3. Throw boulder into the ocean.

The only loss to humanity will be the value of the steel in the chains.

That’s why someone needs to run for governor on NY on the platform of giving him a full pardon. They would win in a landslide.

I have seen snippets in the news saying that his family has disavowed him and cut him off so he effectively no longer comes from a rich family unless they change their minds.
