“If you raise the fucking hot dog, I will kill you. Figure it out.”

In quotes and attributed, in a conversation about the Costco hot dog. But apparently I’m threatening violence. Lol

I have two accounts, with lots of karma, inexplicably shadowbanned. All I do is post in like 3 niche interest tech/fandom subs, zero politics or hostility.

The appeals page is like a black hole. No explanation, no process, no results.

    I don’t even know anymore.

        Fffffff, that’s even worse.

Honestly the niche subs I visit are either cesspools or “brain drained” now, and unfortunately not much critical mass is here on Lemmy… Seems most went to Twitter, Insta/Tiktok or maybe Discord.

Appealing too many temp bans (all unfounded) got me perma banned.

Corpo bootlickers, kicking all humans off their platform until they remaining are indistinguishable from the growing see of bots.

It’s clear they only want people just browsing and not logged in anymore. All for the advertisement money

I literally don’t know why I’m shadowbanned though, I didn’t do anything even adjacently controversial!

I guess I just talk like a bot? Not that they ban those, ha…

But yeah that’s what gets me, if there was some stated reason for a shadowban or permanent I’d be understanding, but zero feedback? Really?

Shadowbans are the cowards way of dealing with unwanted users — I understand why they do it, but it happens to way too many normal posters.

It’s okay for zapping low-effort bots, but there should always be a way for humans to deal with it…

I visited the shadowban subs, which lets you comment and apparently normal users are getting dusted for very little reason. If that sub is getting such a frequent postings, it’s a red flag.

Reminds me when I submitted an appeal to Imgur.

My post got taken down for racism.

I send an appeal that it was, in fact, not racism and if it is to please show me where the racism is.

“Thank you for contacting us. Your post got removed because of racism because it had racism in it.”

Told them to go fuck them selves.

    Never got an answer.

Now try this: mass edit all of your comments to be that post and watch how quickly you get banned from every subreddit, no appeal.

Reddit permanently banned me for saying a person got “burned” when Trump did not pay the person. It was violent rhetoric, they said.

You know who didn’t use violent rhetoric? The scorpion, from the parable of the scorpion and the frog. Truly a paragon of common decency.

I don’t see how it’s terribly surprising that the death threat you quoted got lumped in with the earnest death threats.

Any human moderator would not confuse the two. Any human reporting in good faith would not confuse the two.

It sounds like this was llm backed auto moderation, which cannot understand context, which will kill communities and platforms quicker than a hot dog Loving ceo having to pay slightly more.

Yeah, the firehose ends up blasting both directions. Bot generated content leads to bot generated rule enforcement. Still nothing all that surprising to me.

There are those who chose to control by “interpreting” the rules as needed. These people will use a different interpretation as needed to exert any control they can.

They’re being right is less important than YOU’RE being wrong

I was banned 3 days for “hate speech” because I said the IDF was committing horrible crimes and killing children.

I was banned 7 days for violence (on a shit-posting sub) for saying Bonhomme should go to Washington DC and sort out 47. Bonhomme is the mascot of Québec Winter Carnival. He is a snowman. For context, the original shit-post had a “photo” of 47 gleefully eyeing a poster of Bonhomme. I did try to appeal this because…really? I was unable to even submit an appeal. I guess the US must be absolutely terrified of pretend snowmen from Québec.

I was permanently banned for violence because I spoke against 47 and his underlings calling for the annexation of Canada. The war-mongers are allowed to threaten their peaceful neighbour 🇨🇦 (and others) with economic ruin and invasion, but a citizen of 🇨🇦 isn’t permitted to speak against this threat?

I was a premium member but I had put a pause on the membership a couple months back when we began boycotting the US. I didn’t even try to appeal the perma-ban. I cancelled my membership/account and uninstalled the app.

I got a three day ban for saying that Deadpool would do something to Tim Gunn. Deadpool the fictional character and Tim Gunn, the very real fashion chair (at the time) of Parsons School of Design. I forget what, possibly kidnap him to protect him from something. IDK, whatever it was was impossible and not in any way inciting violence.

Good thing they can blame bots for this shit.

Throws up hands “It was the bots, nothing bad we did.” Just like when AI fucks things up and companies won’t take responsibility. Because we didn’t do anything bad 🤷

I call that the “responsibility Theater”. But Software fuckups are super common and the industry (and those adjacent to it) really mastered absolving themselves of all responsibily.

It probably is, the issue is that the appeal process doesn’t work and is seemingly also run by bots.

The ban purges have revealed most people were getting auto banned by an Ai and auto rejected by the same thing. I almost all accounts banned like this, I felt like it was an experiment on their part

There are absolutely bots doing this sort of thing. Years ago when I still had an account there I got flagged for “promoting suicide” because I explained that a stalemate in a chess game can happen because “the king is not allowed to commit suicide”
