The unfortunate thing is this won’t go anywhere. There’s no real chance of impeachment until 2027. The Qatari jet is generating murmurs in the GOP, but it’ll take a while to fully tank the economy.
Which he’ll blame on someone else, so he’ll retain his core base. But at a certain point, the pitchforks and midterms come out.
It won’t go anywhere even if he was impeached. He’s already been impeached twice.
He could even get voted out of office, and then what? Is somebody going to force him out of office? Do they have to escort him away? Who gets to do that?
Comparing what this congressman is doing to what Marjorie Taylor Greene did during Biden’s presidency strikes me as a false equivalency and throws the entire angle of this article into question. While I agree that trying to file articles of impeachment at this point is not productive, it would have been the correct thing to do pre-2016.
There’s a bit too much both-sidesism for my taste as well, but here I think they’re going for historical context, which is relevant and also serves to show the absurdity of MTG’s actions.
