    The political renaming occurred in context of France’s opposition to the proposed invasion of Iraq.

    Jeez, I understand that self-reflection isn’t the strong suit of these people, but you’d think at some point they would consider whether branding the bombing of a country as “freedom” really makes sense.

      Actually probably since 1776. There’s always some KKK-adjacent southerner elect screaming mentally ill shit, whom that locale considered the best option, because they are no better.

    This could have been easily avoided by calling them “chips” like a sensible person, and also by not occupying and destabilising the Middle East to maintain imperial control of crude oil production.

    Interesting that the list of “politically motivated food name changes” does not mention “home fries”, formerly “German fries”. IIRC this was in the context of WWI.
