A building is on fire. The fire seems to be climbing upwards.

[green, in a window close to the fire] What the hell dude. Did you set our entire building on fire? We will both die…

[orange, pouring something on the flames, from higher up] Yeah but I’m higher up in the building so the fire will kill you first. Triggered, liberal?

It’s actually much worse. This comic implies that orange realizes/accepts their own mortality. It should be

[orange, adding fuel to the fire, from higher up]

You’ll be dead and I’ll be chilling in heaven with Jesus Christ when he fixes everything. Triggered, liberal?

They want the apocalypse. They want it to burn. They want us all to die. There are many people like this - most of them are quiet. It’s insidious.

    We must stop accelerationism.

Absolutely! It’s a fucking cult and I’m done pretending that they don’t want to kill us all to appease their God.

But the ones actually running the show don’t believe in any of that Jesus shit.

So you’d think they would know better. 🤷

Some of them do. There are more than a few christian billionaires. But let’s forget them and talk about the likes of muskrat and bozo. They should know better. But they have an egotistical belief that they will rise as leaders from the flames, of the unwashed masses. Apocalypse society is the peak of a psychopath’s power fantasy. Rewrite the laws of the land in your own image and all that jazz.

Edit for an afterthought: it’s much easier to control smaller groups of people. 8 billion people is a lot of bodies and free will. But 8 million, 800,000, now that’s a lot more manageable.

I would bet their entire net worth that they believe their money and/or positions insulate them from the consequences.

Except in real life the person is lower in the building. At least in the US, right wing policy almost always hurts conservative areas more.

It’s a general purpose allegory, doesn’t have to be about the US specifically. In my home country (France), the person enjoying the fire tends to be higher up the building, as here the richer people are, the further right they lean. You could also have it be about global warming, about race relations, about queers and other minorities, or pretty much anything else.
