The House of Representatives, however, rejected in a 422-6 vote on Thursday, to cut funding for the Israeli Cooperative Program - an agreement through which the US provides Israel with $500m to boost its missile programmes.
It is a separate allocation from the $3.3bn the US sends Israel as “security assistance” every year.
Imagine what 3.3bn would do for education in the United States? Fuck Iseral’s “security”, they can take care of themselves.
Not even getting into how Israels have all the “socialism” stuff we say we can’t afford for ourselves.
If universal healthcare and free college isn’t worth it for Americans, why are we giving Israel billions annually? Shouldn’t Israel stop that “frivolous” spending to lower the amount they need from foreign countries?
But like, when they House votes 422-6 for something like this, it’s pointless to think logic will change the mind of any of the 422.
It’s a hard thing to admit, but we need to be able to say a foreign government has clearly bought off both parties of our government.
And nothing will convince the compromised politicians to stop, we have to vote them out. D or R every one of those 422 needs to go. MTG still needs to go too, there’s plenty of other reasons
Seriously. We subsidize them to the point where they have universal healthcare, social safety nets, robust education, and in return they turned Palestine into a prison state, and now a literal genocide.
We need to realize that Israel gets free passes because their Epstein honey pot ensnared generations of western political leaders, and that’s why in America, we need to purge our political leadership of anyone over 65 for registered parties. Israel is currently secure enough to be able to commit a genocide while also starting conflicts with neighboring countries. They’re acting like they can take care of things on their own, so let them.

I agree Israel should not be subsidized by the states but 3.3 billion is about ten dollars per American.
If that money were all distributed to our education system, it would only really go to the children of the US, so it makes less sense to evaluate that money on a per-american basis.
That money would also be going to institutions as opposed to the students, so a more practical evaluation would be to see what amounts would go to each school.
At the end of the day, though, we know that $3.3bn isn’t going to education - not even a bit.
Even if it’s say twenty percent of Americans being school aged so it actually being fifty dollars per student I don’t see how’s that’s going to change the education system.
Again, it’s 50 dollars per student - given to the school as a subsidy. The average middle school has something around 500-600 students, so that’s between $25,000 to $30,000 per school. That’s not huge but it’s not negligible either.
Because you don’t understand how far a dollar can go when you invest it in productive programs.

A given school’s graduating class might range anywhere from 50-2,000 students and you’ll have 3-4 of those per school. That’s potentially $320,000 for a single large school by this napkin math assuming those funds are distributed perfectly evenly according to student population. If put to more strategic use this could be an incredible boon to lower income schools in many, many areas.
That’s just for a single military program. We also give $18 Billion a year to Israel and have given something like $200 Billion over the last 70 years to Israel.
At the same time, we spend $5.2 billion a year to provide 2.4 billion breakfasts in over 90,000 schools and residential child care institutions. $3.3 million more could feed a lot of hungry kids.

So, when AIPAC donates to candidates, it’s US tax payers being surreptitiously forced to donate to those candidates.
Why is it bipartisan? Israel is our only ally in the middle east. We lose Israel, we lose our foothold into the countries with oil.
Government sources indicate that the US really only imports from two Middle Eastern countries: Iraq and Saudi Arabia. I don’t see how either of those countries would be particularly displeased if the US cuts off Israel.
Israel is a useless ally. They just hold their hands out for American money and don’t seem to provide anything in return other than bad press. Maybe you could make an argument that Israel’s position is beneficial for regional stability, but I don’t see why other countries couldn’t fill that role. There is no shortage of strongmen in the Middle East. Yeah, they’re the “oNlY deMocRaCy iN tHe MiddLe EasT” but that means nothing if their electorate always just votes for politicians who want to massacre their neighbours.
Israel isn’t just a useless ally. They’re a fucking liability as an ally. America is like the 7ft tall 300lb quite guy in the hoodie standing in the corner, and Israel is his 5’2 ‘friend’ who gets constant handouts, but acts like a complete dick hole to everyone and provokes fights that they can’t win on their own.
Israel is a fucking mistake made possible by the compromises and lack of foresight post WW2.

I think you missed the point with my post, which is fair since the way I said it doesn’t look like criticism.
Israel itself is useless. We only support it as a foothold into the middle east. As you said, anybody else could theoretically fill that role, but the reality of it is that much of the middle east hates the United States. If we lose Israel, America would have to spend a lot more to regain that foothold.
To make it perfectly clear, I am in agreement that the United States should drop them as an ally and leave the middle east alone altogether.
Israel is NOT our only ally in the Middle East. We have good relationships with every country there except Iran. Frankly we’d have even more friends if we didn’t unconditionally back Israel and their wars on every one of their neighbors.

Nah. It’s still sending money to Israel, just a tiny bit less. It’s still sending money for weapons to continue the genocide. Just because it’s a little less makes zero effect on the morality, it’s still furthering the genocide. It’s just phrased to make you think it’s doing something to cause less harm. It’s not.
Doesn’t cut any offensive weapons shipments. US is still supporting Israel’s genocide.
