I use a different POS at work but has a similar issue. You can swipe down from the top of the screen just like a phone to see notifications but the swipe down spot is very small and not in the center. For me, its middle left of center. Maybe yours is similar?

I think this is a Samsung tablet thing. Just a couple of weeks ago I discovered it has two swipe down menus, one for the right side and one for the left with different functionalities.

      Boomer?

Every millenial’s phone I’ve seen has a million notifications.

      It’s weird to me.

I guess I see the boomer as the gold standard. Notifications as far as the eye can see, noises dinging nonstop, 10000 browser tabs open. Last reboot: 2023 when their nephew made them do it.

Absolutely. I got a Nothing Phone for my dad a year ago and he has never updated it. Still running on NothingOS 2.x while they already released 3.x with tons of new features.

But he made sure to set up really loud and obnoxious ringtones. Never change. :D

We have company issued android phones with bluetooth headsets while on-premises (they work as ptt radios between staff, and they’re linked to the business phone so we can directly answer calls for our departments.).

There’s like 7 locked notifications and it regularly plays notification sounds but very very rarely displays any notifications that are actually relevant to you.

Finally it automatically logs you out after exactly 8hrs, even if you’re actively typing/using the device. Shifts are 8.5-9hrs including lunch.

ADHD or something i guess. Maybe that’s the reason it’s mildly infuriating.

Shizuku+Canta could probably get rid of them.

I’d be surprised if you’d be able to install shizuku and canta on a POS terminal, even more surprised if you could enable adb to give shizuku privileges.

Oh, it’s a Point-of-Sale! Yeah, not much you can do there.

Even if it was just a standard Android phone though, this is a work device locked down by MDM lol. It’s like someone being frustrated with the windows group policy on their work computer and someone responding “well maybe you should switch to Linux” like it’s under their control

Point Of Sale, a generic term for everything that functions these days as a cash register did in the last. Typically has to be computerized to be a POS

MDM, mobile device management. What corps do to keep people from doing things to devices that the corp doesn’t want done. Company issued mobile phones might use this, but so would a POS company since they wouldn’t want people installing games on a cash register.
