Chinese GPU manufacturers have been making massive strides, and now, they have made a breakthrough in the consumer GPU segment.

Also don’t worry about the spyware tracing everything negative you might say about the CPC…

Even if China were doing that, what would they do with the information? Nothing, because they don’t give a shit about you, because you’re on the other side of the planet. They’re not doing that because they’re not cartoon villains wasting their time and effort on nefarious plots against Western randos.

Also, almost all of your current hardware came from China, so I guess you’re not actually that worried about it.

Given the option, I prefer US spying over Chinese spying. Yes, the US, with all its shit, is still better than China since there still is (just a little) more transparent than China.

Having said that, why not neither? Can we please already start having open source hardware?

I think that Snowden (and other leakers) would argue that the US is much much less transparent. Though it is best to just assume that all major govs are spying on everyone (even if it makes an ass out of u and me). Though we can agree on open source hardware.

In a democracy most people get what they want most of the time. Do you honestly believe that people in the US want to go bankrupt every time they need healthcare?

A democracy is the people voting lol. You also get what you vote for, some people vote against themselves. Nice thing about China is the state knows best and you dont need to vote :)

People vote in China. Anyways, this is getting off topic. This Chinese GPU should be judged on technical merits, not based on the form of government or whether China adheres to European cultural and political norms. If that’s your only issue with it, then it is an admission that it is a competitive product.

This discussion started with the question “is it better to have a democracy or a dictatorship spy on you” but sure.

China is a communist country governed by one political party that allows only limited democratic activity.

Interesting quote from your link. I’f they adopt democracy and allow fair elections then it wouldn’t be a problem but maybe that’s too European for your liking

This was never about performance, I hope we get more competitive products.

Well, they get what they deserve, not necessarily what they want. Americans need to get better at aligning their wants with their political behavior.
